ST: STCS Campaign - Federation Task Force 19 and 90

One player has created their two squadrons.  They have chosen the United Federation of Planets to play as.

Task Force 19
- USS Nebraska - Capt. Ricketts (Flagship) - Federation Class Battleship
- USS Berlin - Capt. Muller - Anton Class Cruiser
- USS California - Capt. Brown - Miranda Class Frigate
- USS Singapore - Capt. Hsienloong - Cassard Class Destroyer
- USS New York - Capt. Cuomo - Ranger Class Scout

Task Force 90
- USS Puma - Capt. Low (Flagship) - Brenton Class Cruiser
- USS Panther - Capt. Doss - Baker Class Destroyer
- USS Mountain Lion - Capt. Price - Wilkerson Class Destroyer

Looking forward to see what the other player (Klingon) will choose for their ships.

Campaign Ship Information

The campaign rules and ships are coming along.  I think I have the rules nearly done, and just a few more ships to add or adjust.  I have been using the following books to get ships and other data I might need.

I also used data from other websites and PDF's for more Federation, Klingon, and Romulan ships.  These other sources were used for the Gorn, Orion, and neutral nation ships.

Star Trek: STCS Campaign

Been a while since I posted anything on here, been busy with work and life and all that good stuff.

I have been working in a Campaign for Star Trek:  Starship Tactical Combat Simulator for the last little while, nothing serious, but dabbling with some rules and changes to other rules from the main rule book.

I got this idea from a website that I found a long time ago (cant recall the exact web address).  It had some rules and ideas for a campaign using the Star Trek STCS rules along with their own house rules.  I would love to do the same thing.

I hope to create a Master Ship List for the factions, including:
  • United Federation of Planets
  • Klingon Empire
  • Romulan Star Empire
  • Gorn Hegemony
  • the minor nations:
    • Orion Syndicate (mostly pirates)
    • Imperial Klingon States (renegade Klingons)
    • Affiliation of Outer Free Worlds (work with UFP but separate government)
    • Orion Free Mercantile Association
    • Mantiev Colonial Association (renegade UFP)
    • Traders (freighters)
The area that the campaign would take place is the Triangle.  The Klingons want to expand their territory by acquiring at least half the systems, the Romulans want a third of the systems, the Gorn would also like a third of the systems to get themselves a good foothold for future of expansion, and the Federation wants to keep everyone from taking anything that is not theirs.

Basic Fantasy RPG

I was looking for something easy and light, but that I was still familiar with since my gaming days years ago.  I had come across the Basic Fantasy RPG, by Chris Gonnerman, while using my "google-fu", and reading about it on Dragonsfoot Forums (under simulacrum games).

I downloaded the rules for free... yes that is right... FREE! that you can download (there are also a lot of other free stuff for download, including supplements, advantures, etc.).  It was a lot like the basic D&D that first tried a long time ago.  I still have that old red box on my shelf.  I liked the rules, supplements, and even adventures, that I could get as well, this was obviously not a game that was going anywhere soon.

I bought some of the titles from Amazon.ca, as I like to have a copy in my hands, and easy to take anywhere too.  I bought:
  • Basic Fantasy Role Playing Game - 3rd edition
  • Field Guide of Creatures Malevolent and Benign
  • AA1 - Adventurer Antholoy One
  • BF1 - Morgansfort - The Western Lands Campaign
  • BF2 - Fortress, Tomb, and Tower - The Glain Campaign
  • DC1 - Tales from the Laughing Dragon - A Dragonclaw Adventure
  • JN1 - The Chaotic Caves
  • JN2 - Monkey Isle
  • JN3 - Saga of the Giants
The was what was available (so far?) and I got it all for less than $50 (yes that is right).  I hope other titles come into print  I am sure I will pick them up as well.

With these as my foundation, I would like to run a BFRPG campaign, using some of the modules from the site, as well as other modules from similar systems.  I want to add a few things from various supplements that are available at the BRFPG site as well.

I hope to use this blog as a place for my campaign.  Whether it be the actual campaign, house rules, or just things I wanted to say.

All Things Zombie

I have been wanting to play All Things Zombie (by Two Hour Wargames) for quite a while now, but have not really taken time to sit down and try it out.  I have read a few blogs about their AARs (After Action Reports), and it really makes me want to play.  I will play myself and probably have a couple of others join me while I try and survive in the zombie-filled city.

I am interested in the reaction system that ATZ uses, not the you go, then I go system that most games have.  There are turns, but a lot can happen in a single turn.  Maybe you get to move while the zombies mull around, or maybe you are too scared and freeze.  Maybe you engage in melee and kill a few zombies with a bat or an axe.  You can become stronger or get weaker depending on rolls between scenarios.  You may gain more companions.

I definitely need to play this...lol.

It started well....

I have wanted to play some X-Wing for a while now, but have not had anyone to play with, but I came across the Heroes of the Aturi Cluster campaign, made for the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures game.  Thanks to the AI that was designed for co-op play, I can now play alone, or co-op.

I created two pilots "Harlequin" in an X-wing, and "Paladin" in a Y-Wing.  I grabbed R5-P9 for "Harlequin" and Ion Cannon Turret and R2-F2 for "Paladin".  I was up against 3 TIE Fighters to start, they were joined by a TIE Interceptor (in round 4) and another TIE Fighter (Round 7).  Unfortunately both pilots could only manage to destroy one TIE Fighter (and damage most of the others) before they were shot down.  The AI was always surprising me and ended up getting a lot of shots off at both rebel pilots.

I may have lost, but I will be trying it again soon.

A Long Time Ago...

It has been a while since I last posted and I have managed to get in few games of Zombicide, Pandemic, Betrayal at House on the Hill, and Star Wars: X-Wing (solo).  As well as, playing around with:
  • a Star Trek campaign using Star Trek Starship Tactical Combat Simulator
  • a Star Wars X-Wing campaign
  • a Dungeons & Dragons campaign using 2nd edition (with a mix of 1st, BFRPG, and other homebrew rules
